New Year new goals

2021! And just like that another year has passed. It’s true what they say about getting older and how time seems to speed up.

So as I sit here on New Years Day, (yep had a nice quiet night and no hangover!) trying to put in place some goals, I’m feeling a little overwhelmed as to where to start. I feel like I have a million things I want to do this year and not quite sure how to plan it all out!

So here are some tips about goals… They need to be SMART!

SPECIFIC - Goals need to be specific, clear and well defined.

MEASURABLE - Goals needs to have precise amounts and dates applied so success can be measured.

ACHIEVABLE - Goals need to actually be achievable and realistic

RELEVANT - Goals need to be relevant to the direction of your intentions.

TIME BOUND - Putting a time frame on goals gives a sense of urgency. Success can then be celebrated at the deadline.

Writing goals down makes them real and tangible. And posting them on a vision board they become unforgettable. Also using words such as I WILL instead of I MIGHT, or I WOULD LIKE TO provides power to the goal, making it more likely that the goal will be achieved.

Then, an action plan is needed. These are the steps that are put in place to work towards the goal, the time needed, the resources etc.

Lastly, stick to the plan! Set reminders to stay on track as well as reminding yourself of the outcome. The big picture is a nice reminder that the process is worth it!

My first goal is to complete the course I have been working on - a Certificate IV in Weight Management. I am excited about this qualification and look forward to being able to help more people understand more about weight and how to manage it.

Now it’s your turn…. what are your goals?
