The Whitsundays - Get Outdoors!

Even when it is WET WET WET here, there are so many reasons to love the Whitsundays!

Beautiful blue ocean views from many different outlooks through Airlie Beach and surrounds, the Great Barrier Reef and Island resorts, snorkeling, boating, fishing and bush walking, and many more

Normally with beautiful blue skies and superb sunny days, the Whitsundays offer perfect weather for outdoor exercise whether it be just getting out and about along the ever popular and mostly waterfront board walk which runs for around 7 km between Airlie Beach and Cannonvale Beach, or getting into nature with some beautiful local rain forest walks. There are lots of choices and many different lengths and levels as options.

And of course there’s A FIT LIFE by Tonya with 5 outdoor group training sessions a week - check out the newly listed timetable here https://www.afitlifebytonya.com.au/timetable which run even if it’s raining, there is an undercover hut to provide shelter as well as shade over the court for the sunny days

For me - A favourite local trail walk/run is Honeyeaters lookout as well as Mt Rouper - Shute Harbour, both are up hill and challenging in most parts and take around an hour to complete (however it is recommended to allow more time than this, depending on your fitness level).

Escaping into a trail run where the only noises are that of your feet and the natural sounds of the rain forest birds and wildlife are enough to re-energize the mind and let go of the ever present stresses of every day life. While it feels like the hills are never going to end, seeing the trees change, it is a friendly reminder the end is near, gasping for air with the legs tired and burning, the view is just outstanding and all the hard work pays off instantly. The outlook over Airlie Beach is excellent and well worth the effort, so after a photo or 2 and the breathing back under control its time to take the (mostly) downhill track back home.

I highly recommend getting out into the peace and quiet of nature as much as you can. Take time to free the mind and just breathe.

Tonya xx
